Erich Barke

Erich Barke (born 28 December 1946 in Hanover ) is a German professor of microelectronics. He is president of the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover and since January 2013 President of the Lower Saxony Institute of Technology ( NTH ).

Life

Erich Barke visited the Humboldt School Hannover. From 1968 to 1973 he studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Hanover. After graduation, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering and electrical metrology. Following the promotion in 1978 and his habilitation in 1982 he became a professor on time in Hanover. After a managerial career at Siemens, he was appointed in 1990 as professor of the Chair " Microelectronic Systems " at the University of Hannover. Since 2005 he has been President of the Leibniz University of Hannover; In 2011 he was elected for a second term. He is the patron of the Hanover branch of the student initiative foresight, the pursuit of a more equitable access to education worldwide.
