Erich Cviertna

Erich Cviertna ( born March 16, 1951 in Nový Jičín, Czechoslovakia, † October 5, 2013 in Ostrava ) was a Czech football player and coach.

Playing career

Cviertna began playing football in Kopřivnice. In the men's area, he played for Aritma Prague, Tatra Kopřivnice and TJ Nový Jičín.

Coaching career

Cviertna began his coaching career as an assistant with Banik Ostrava in 1979 to 1984. Subsequently, he worked for five years as head coach at VP Frýdek- Místek. In the 1989/90 season was Cviertna coach at Sigma Olomouc, with whom he reached eighth place in the Czechoslovak league. He returned as an assistant coach to Ostrava. In the season 1992/93 he coached again VP Frýdek- Místek. In October 1993 he released Jiří Dunaj from as a coach at FC Vitkovice Kovkor, with four games left in the season replaced him Jaroslav Netolička.

Cviertna returned to Frýdek- Místek, where he worked until 1998. From 1999 to 2002 he was an assistant at Banik Ostrava again. In the season 2002/ 03 he got the chance BANIK as head coach to work. After a 0:1 at the 1 FC Brno on the 25th matchday of the club parted from him, the team was in sixth place.

For the season 2004 /05 Cviertna took over the then third division side FC Hlučín. In October, however, he followed the call of Jozef Jarabinský to be his assistant coach at Banik Ostrava. In January 2006, he succeeded his successor Pavel Hajný in Hlučín and remained there until June 2007.

Cviertna died on October 5, 2013 in Ostrava at the consequences of a serious illness.
