Erich Haupt

Karl Friedrich Erich Haupt ( born July 8, 1841 in Stralsund, † February 19, 1910 in Halle ( Saale) ) was a Lutheran theologian.

Main studied 1858-61 in Berlin, in 1861 a high school teacher in Kolberg and 1866 in Treptow Rega ad. In 1878 he was appointed as professor of New Testament exegesis at the University of Kiel, moved in 1882 to the University of Greifswald and 1888 at the University of Halle ( Saale). In 1888 he served as rector in Greifswald, 1902 in Halle. His most important scientific achievement is the continuation of the critical - exegetical commentary on the New Testament.

Main was a member of the General Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Prussia and was there the guided by Willibald Beyschlag and designated as " middle party " " Evangelical Association " to. Since 1902 he was a member of the Magdeburg provincial consistory. 1900-1908 he was Chairman of the Gustav -Adolf -Verein in the Church Province of Saxony and also belonged to the Central Committee of the Gustav -Adolf -Verein. He also worked on the board of the Evangelical Alliance to safeguard the German - Protestant interests (now Evangelical Confederation). 1901-1908 he was the " German Evangelical leaves ", the organ of the " Evangelical Association " out.

While studying in Berlin, he became a member of the Christian fraternity Wingolf Berlin, during his stay in Greifswald he became a member in the Greifswald Wingolf before taking up the bond of Halle Wingolf also in his last place of residence.

Main died in 1910 in Halle. His final resting place is located on the St. Lawrence Cemetery.
