Erich W. Kopischke

Erich Kopischke ( born October 20, 1956 in Elmshorn) is President of the European territory of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints.

Family

Erich Kopischke was born on 20 October 1956 as the son of Kurt E. and Helga Kopischke in Elmshorn. His parents came from East Germany and settled shortly before the birth of her son Erich to West Germany. Erich Kopischke married Christiane luck in 1978 in Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Swiss Zollikofen. They are the parents of two daughters and five sons. The family lives in Usingen in Hesse.

Education and work

Erich Kopischke has completed commercial training and worked as an independent insurance broker. Later he spent ten years managing director of the Nuremberg group. Then he took a job at the education of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints, where he worked for the Europe region rose center to the Area Director, before being appointed as a mission president in Berlin. At the time of his appointment as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy, he served as coordinator for the educational programs of the church in Frankfurt.

Ecclesiastical work

Erich Kopischke was appointed on 31 March 2007 at the age of 50 years as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints. Previously, he was an Area Seventy. Since 2009 he has been President of the European territory of the Church. As regional president, he called on the members of the Church at an international conference worship to become " their fellow man to do good". In his first address in a general conference, he stressed the importance of the mission work of the church. With two international congresses of government representatives and representatives of different religions in 2010, he called for respect for other faiths. As a young man, he completed a mission in Bavaria. In 2003 he was called as president of the mission in Berlin, which included the territory of the former GDR, including the whole of Berlin. Prior to this appointment, he held numerous positions in the church, including stake president, district president, high councilor, branch president and counselor in two bishoprics.
