Erik Balling

Erik Balling ( born November 29, 1924 in Nyborg, Funen, Denmark, † 19 November 2005 Copenhagen) was a Danish screenwriter and director.

Life

Erik Balling first began studying veterinary medicine, before he devoted himself to film at the age of 22 years. The Nordisk Film A / S, he was hired as an assistant director. In 1957, he was the youngest director. He remained in this position until 1986.

Balling was particularly known for his films The Olsen Gang. He directed thirteen of the fourteen films directed and co-wrote with Henning Bah its screenplays. The last film created in 1998, he was involved for reasons of age only as a consultant.

In addition, he still has directed more than twenty other films. Even his first work as a director Adam og Eva in 1953 he became the most important Danish Bodil Film Award for Best Film.
