Erik Bodom

Erik ( thorn ) Bodom ( born September 28, 1829 in Vestby, † April 16, 1879 in Dusseldorf ) was a Norwegian landscape painter.

Life

Bodom received his education in Christiania, but dealt in school more with the drawing and fled when he should make the exam. He initially made a study trip to Telemark, the fruit of which was purchased by the Art Association.

When Hans Gude in 1848 returned from Germany, he joined to this and went with him to Dusseldorf in 1850. His first larger image From the Bondhusthal came in the Bridgewater Gallery in London.

He chose his subjects mainly of barren, lonely forest areas and particularly distinguished himself by the melancholy mood, which he knew to give the nature of. He died on April 16, 1879.
