Erkencho

Erkencho, also erquencho, is a single-reed instrument from the nordagentinischen Gran Chaco region. The name erkencho means "little Erke ". The old Indian name for the instrument, putoto, means " shell".

The erkencho is 25-33 inches long and is made of a cow's horn. In this plugged at the near end one about 10 inches long reed from a plant pipe. The erkencho is with the orks ( Erque ) called - but not form- related. The orks is a up to seven meters long natural trumpet.
