The solar field Erlasee (also solar Gut Erlasee ) is a 2005/2006 on the former Franconian vineyard Erlasee at Arnstein in Landkreis Main -Spessart ( Bavaria ) built solar power plant.

This power plant was until 2007/2008, the largest photovoltaic plant in the world. It is a joint project of the Berlin-based solar module manufacturer Solon SE, the configuration and distribution company SAG Solar Power AG and E.ON Bayern AG, is fed into the 20 kV network, the current generated in the nearly seven miles further west village Beautiful Arts.

On the 85 -acre site convert 1,464 biaxial sun-tracking solar panels with a capacity of 11.4 megawatts peak sunlight into electrical energy. About 14,000 megawatt hours of electricity produced per year. This corresponds to a power plant, which produces about 1.6 MW constant around the clock. To track the solar modules, each of twelve modules are mounted on movable sub-structures, so-called movers. Through this technique, the SOLON Mover of the initiator of the park promises a higher yield of about 30 percent. Used are solar modules with about 1.55 meters in width and 2.6 meters in length. Pro Mover modules always come up with a type of solar cells used in the entire solar panel modules are installed with both polycrystalline and monocrystalline cells with efficiencies of 15 to 22 percent.

The required area is approximately 74,500 m² per megawatt and is more than twice as high as that of a rigid south-facing system. The reason is that these modules tracked system also need space to east and west, so that there is no mutual shading in the sun is low. The advantage of this construction are about 30 % higher standard capacity ( energy output per module) and improved agricultural usability of the soil compared to a rigid, south-facing installation.

After a construction period of 15 months, the solar field on 1 September 2006 was inaugurated with a concert by BAP and The BossHoss. The whole project has cost around 70 million euros. The 1,464 movers were " commercialized " in various ways. Thus, the solar power AG acquired 776 movers from Freiburg and sold to investors - for the price 45000-55000 euro per piece, depending on the performance of the solar modules used. 436 movers are financed through the Fund Solarstrompark Erlasee, are to be had in the shares for a minimum investment of 5,000 euros. The remaining 196 movers have been sold to another customer.
