Ernest II, Count of Lippe-Biesterfeld

Ernst Kasimir Friedrich Karl Eberhard, Count of Lippe - Biesterfeld. ( Born June 9, 1842 in Upper Kassel in Bonn, † September 26, 1904 in Castle Lopshorn ) was Regent of Lippe 1897-1904 Ernst is the son of Julius of Lippe - Biesterfeld Clotilda and Adelheid of Castell -Castell. He gained notoriety primarily through the so-called Lippe succession dispute.

Lippe succession dispute

When in 1895 Prince Woldemar died childless, the old Prince of Lippe house was almost extinct. While it was still alive, a son of Prince Leopold II, Alexander, but was incapacitated and incapable of governing since 1871.

To succeed quarreled three related families: the princely line of Schaumburg-Lippe and the two lines Count Lippe- Biesterfeld and Lippe- white box.
