Ernesto Icaza Sánchez

Trinidad Ernesto Timoteo Francisco Icaza Sánchez ( * January 26, 1866, † 1935) was a Mexican portrait and animal painter and ambitious rider who became famous for his horse and rider paintings.

Biography

Ernesto Icaza was the son of Joaquín de Mora Icaza and his second wife María de la Luz Victoria Sánchez Colomo, emerged from their marriage four more children. It is known that his mother died in 1881, when he was 15 years old. On February 25, 1891, he married María Ángela Diega Cruzado Basabe. The marriage with her ​​remained childless. It is not known whether he was studying painting or the skills appropriated self-taught. In addition to hundreds of oil paintings on canvas or board, he painted between 1910 and 1920 a few of the typical for this time in Mexico murals.
