Ernie Hudson

Earnest Lee " Ernie " Hudson ( born December 17, 1945 in Benton Harbor, Michigan ) is an American actor.

Life

Hudson grew up in Michigan in Benton Harbor. Since he never knew his father and his mother died just two months after his birth from tuberculosis, he grew up with his grandmother on mother's side. After serving for a short time in the U.S. Marine Corps, he moved to Detroit, where the Concept East, the oldest American theater for blacks he played. During his studies at Wayne State University, he furthered his acting skills and was able, after he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, studying on a scholarship at Yale School of Drama.

Soon, he starred in the musical Daddy Goodness where he met Gordon Parks, who gave him a first film role in Lead Berry. Then Hudson started at the University of Minnesota to study for a doctorate before he returned to active acting.

Best known he was for his role as Winston Zeddemore in the films Ghostbusters - Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II ( 1989). However, he lost this role in an audition for the animated series The Real Ghostbusters on Arsenio Hall. Even today, he is approached on the street because of his role and visited repeatedly over the years dressed as a Ghostbuster several conventions.

After Hudson for three different roles as a policeman, " San Bernardino County Police " prepared, he was from 1989 and from 1994 Deputy Sheriff Sergeant in the Special Service Bureau police.

Hudson was married from 1963 until his divorce on December 30, 1982, his first wife, with whom he has two sons, one of which the actor Ernie Hudson Jr. is. Since May 25, 1985 he married his second wife, Linda King Mountain, with whom he also has two sons.
