Ernst Gutting

Ernst Gutting ( born January 30, 1919 in Ludwigshafen, † September 27, 2013 in Kaiserslautern) was Auxiliary Bishop of Speyer.

Life

Gutting came from a Catholic family; his father Richard was a Christian trade union secretary. After use as a soldier in World War II and return from captivity, he entered the seminary and studied in Eichstätt and Tübingen, among others, Romano Guardini. On 3 July 1949 he was ordained a priest in the cathedral of Speyer. At first he was a chaplain in Pirmasens, Landau and Kaiserslautern, 1956 youth and women pastors. Bishop Isidore Markus Emanuel deposed him in 1959 in the office of diocesan woman pastor.
