Ernst-Ludwig Schwandner

Ernst- Ludwig Schwandner ( born June 2, 1938 in Berlin ) is a German architectural historian.

Ernst- Ludwig Schwandstrasse parents were former Bavarian staff officer Eduard Schwandner (1908-1943) and Gudrun Schwandner, born of Priesdorff ( daughter of Kurt von Priesdorff ). He attended boarding school in Birklehof Hinterzarten until graduation in 1958. As a student he met in Munich, the actress Erika Wyneken, whom he married in 1963 and with whom he has three children. In a second marriage, he has two more children.

Schwandner studied from 1958 to 1961 at the Technical University of Braunschweig in undergraduate study architecture and then moved to the main graduate studies at the Technical University of Munich, where he graduated in 1966 with a diploma. He was there from 1967 to 1973 research assistant at the Institute of Architecture and was there received his doctorate in 1975 with a thesis on The older temple of Aphaia on Aegina with Gottfried Gruben. Schwandner was since 1974 a member and officer of the company founded in 1973 Architecture Unit of the German Archaeological Institute ( DAI) in Berlin, whose chief from 1994 until his retirement in 2004. Since 1999 he is a lecturer and since 2001 honorary professor at the Winckelmann - Institut der Humboldt -Universität zu Berlin. Research focus in Schwandstrasse former work is the construction research for ancient architecture. Schwandner is a full member of the DAI.
