Ernst Mahle

Ernst Mahle ( born January 3, 1929 in Stuttgart ) is a German -Brazilian music teacher, conductor and composer.

In Stuttgart, he studied composition with Johann Nepomuk David. In 1951 he went to Brazil. There he founded with his wife, the pianist Cidinha Mahle, and Professor Hans -Joachim Koellreutter in the city of Piracicaba in the state of São Paulo, Escola de Música de Piracicaba, which persists to this day (2008) and has a very good reputation. He worked there as artistic director and conductor of the Chamber and Symphony Orchestra, as well as a teacher and choir director. Since 1962 he is a Brazilian citizen. In parallel, he continued his education among others, Olivier Messiaen, Wolfgang Fortner and Ernst Krenek in the area of ​​composition, as well as in Lawrence of Matačić, Raphael Kubelik and Hans Müller- Kray conducting. His particular interest is the music of education. So his initiative in 1971, launched by him competition Concurso Jovens Instrumental fashionistas do Brasil is due to, in which every two years to measure young Brazilian musicians. In addition to numerous awards with which he was honored, most recently in 2006 the Martius Staden Prize, he is since 1965 an honorary citizen of the city of Piracicaba. He is also a member of the Academia Brasileira de Música.
