Ernst Perabo

Johann Ernst Perabo ( born November 14, 1845 in Wiesbaden, † October 29, 1920 in Boston, Massachusetts) was an American composer and pianist of German origin.

Life

He received his musical training at the Conservatory of Music in Leipzig with Carl Reinecke, Moscheles and Ernst Friedrich Richter. 1852 emigrated Perabos family to New York City. From 1885 he lived in Boston, where he worked as a pianist, composer and music teacher. His most famous pupil was the pianist and composer Amy Beach.

In addition to original compositions for the piano, including a scherzo, three studies, Pensées and Prelude, Romance and Toccatina, he wrote numerous transcriptions and fantasies and operas and orchestral works.
