Ernst Petzold

Ernst Petzold ( born March 27, 1930 in Leipzig ) is a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian and pastor.

Life

Petzold attended the Thomas School in Leipzig and was from 1940 to 1948 a member of the St. Thomas Boys Choir under Günther Ramin. Until the spring of 1951, he sang as a guest at the St. Thomas Boys Choir.

After high school he studied Protestant theology at the University of Leipzig. He served as pastor in Mutzschen - Ragewitz and Meissen (St. Afra ). From 1965 he was head of the country Ecclesiastical Office of Inner Mission and the authorized representative of the Agency of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony. In 1976 he took over the post of Director of the Social Service Agency of the Protestant churches in the GDR. In 1981, he was with the dissertation eschatology as an impulse and as a corrective for the service of the saving love, shown in theology Johann Hinrich Wichern Dr. theol. doctorate. From 1990 to 1995 he was Vice- President of the Social Service Agency of (DW) of the Evangelical Church in Berlin. From 1988 to 1992 he was president of the International Association for Inner Mission and Diakonia ( 1989 European Association for diakonia ).
