Ernst Soner

Ernst Soner (* December 1572 in Nuremberg, † September 28, 1612 in Altdorf bei Nürnberg) was a German physician and naturopath.

The Nuremberg merchant's son studied at the University of Altdorf later from 1589 to 1592 with Nicolaus Taurellus and Philipp Shard medicine.

After he became Master in 1595, he went to 1597/1598 on a study trip to Leiden in Holland, where he became Unitariertum by the Polish Anti-Trinitarians Christoph Ostorod ( Krzysztof Ostorod; 1560-1611 ); converted and Andrzej Wojdowski ( 1565-1622 Voivodius ) been. He then went to England, France and Italy to focus their study in Padua, which belonged at the time to Venice. It is believed that he listened there to the " rationalist " Cesare Cremonini Aristotelians (1550-1631) or his students.

In Basel, he received his Doctor of Medicine and in 1602 he settled in Nuremberg as a physician. As a professor of medicine and professor of Naturopathy 1605, he joined the successor to Philipp Scherbes and was 1607/1608 Rector of the Academy Altdorfer.

Trying his colleagues Nicolaus Taurellus to heal from the plague failed.

Among his pupils were, inter alia, Johann Crell ( since 1620 Rector of the Academy Rakower ), Michael Gittich ( Venetianus, † 1654), Martin and Jonas Ruarus Schlichting ( 1592-1661 ), are the essential for the development of the Polish Unitariertums and the early Enlightenment.
