EROS (satellite)
The satellites of the series EROS ( Earth Resources Observation Systems) are commercial Earth observation satellites, based on the satellite bus of the Israeli satellite series Ofeq and of Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI ) was prepared. This satellite series operated by the Israeli- American company ImageSat International.
EROS -A
EROS - A forms the first generation of Earth observation satellites of the EROS series. EROS -A is largely identical with the Israeli military reconnaissance satellites Ofeq - third
- Purpose: earth observation, 180 cm resolution, 0.5 to 0.9 microns
- Manufacturer: IAI
- Configuration: Ofeq -3 bus
- Life: 6 years
- Mass: 250 kg
- Orbit: 480 km SSO
- Start: EROS -A ( as Ofeq 4), on 23 January 1998 with an Israeli rocket, Shavit -1 ( failed to start )
- EROS -A1, on 6 December 2000 by a Russian rocket launch -1 (replacement for EROS A) of Svobodny
Originally two satellites were planned, EROS -A2 was canceled.
EROS -B
EROS -B is an improved version of the satellite EROS -A. Originally a constellation of four satellites was planned, but only one satellite was launched on 25 April 2006 with a start -1. Instead, the satellite EROS -B should be supplemented from 2009 by the satellite EROS - C, which, however, has been delayed.
- Purpose: Earth Observation, 82 cm resolution panchromatic, multispectral and 3.28 m, 0.5 to 0.9 microns
- Manufacturer: IAI
- Configuration: Bus Ofeq -3
- Life: 10 years
- Mass: 350 kg
- Orbit: 500 km SSO
- Start: EROS -B, on 25 April 2006 with a Russian rocket launch - 1 of Svobodny
EROS -C
- Purpose: Earth Observation, 70 cm resolution panchromatic, 2.8 m multispectral
- Manufacturer: IAI
- Configuration: modified bus Ofeq -3
- Life: 10 years
- Mass: 350 kg
- Orbit: 500 km SSO
- Start: planned
