Erwin Carlé

Erwin Carlé (pseudonym Erwin Rosen; born June 7, 1876 in Karlsruhe, † February 21, 1923 in Hamburg ) was a German writer and journalist.

Carlé attended high school in Munich. His studies had to be canceled due to youth pranks. At 19, he emigrated to the United States. There he struck mainly by doing odd jobs. He was farm workers in Texas, an assistant of the German Western Post in St. Louis, a journalist in San Francisco and made in the U.S. Army in the fight for Signal Hill in Cuba his reports. These experiences have been detained, the German rascal in America in his work. In 1905, he joined the Foreign Legion, but could desert after two years of Sidi Bel Abbes.
