Railway infrastructure companies

Route network

As a railway infrastructure company (EIU ) operates DB Regio network infrastructure GmbH on behalf of Erzgebirgsbahn a 253 km rail network, of which 217 kilometers are generated on regular route revenue through ordered rail transport. Specifically, these are the following routes:

The 62 km long Zschopautalbahn branches in Floeha of the railway line Dresden- Werdau from the south and leads numerous civil engineering structures through the narrow valley of Zschopau to Erzgebirgskamm. The route passes over the mainline stations Zschopau, Annaberg -Buchholz and Cranzahl to the Czech border in Weipert. In Cranzahl the corresponding Saxon steam railway company Fichtelbergbahn branches off to Oberwiesenthal.

Just like the branches Zschopautalbahn the 49 km long Flöhatalbahn in Floeha from the main railway Dresden -Zwickau to the south. It runs in the valley of Floeha about Pockau - Lengefeld, Olbernhau - Grünthal to Neuhausen, but the traffic on the stretch Olbernhau - Grünthal - Neuhausen in 2001 has been set. In February 2014 wrote DB RegioNetz this and two other routes of Erzgebirgsbahn from the takeover by other EIU.

In Pockau - Lengefeld also branches off to the further 12 -kilometer route to Marienberg, which continued until the Second World War Reitzenhain after Chomutov. After removal of the flood damage of 1999, this branch line was opened again on a special train on 26 August 2006. Thereafter, regular passenger services took place until December 2013, when the travel between Marienberg and Pockau - Lengefeld was adjusted. Since, therefore, takes place only spoadischer military traffic on the stretch Marienberg- Pockau - Lengefeld, DB Regio network has these advertised in February 2014 for delivery to other IMs.

The 51 km long Zwoenitz Valley Railway connects Chemnitz and Aue on Thalheim / Erzgeb. and Zwoenitz along the Zwoenitz.

The route runs over a distance of 55 kilometers through the valleys of the river Mulde and black water and connects Zwickau Aue and Schwarzenberg / Erzgeb. Johann George Town.

On this 24 km long stretch of the passenger traffic was already set before the takeover by the Erzgebirgsbahn so that it has since been used only by special trains and freight trains. She is primarily known for the marker Bacher viaduct. Since the track is not economically operated previously ordered due to lack of rail transport, tried to give it off until May 2014 to other EIU DB Regio network.

Major overhaul (2002 to 2007)

By the end of 2007, the 217 km long rail network has been completely refurbished and opened to traffic in December 2007. Due to the bad road condition 80 percent of the sections previously locked or could only be driven at low speed. According to the company, the Company prior to the renovation of the nationwide unwirtschaftlichste rail network infrastructure. The country, the Transport Association of Central Saxony and DB agreed to a restructuring in the amount of 181 million euros.
