Escharotomy

Escharotomy ( from Eschara, Greek ἐσχάρα " stove, fire place, scab (on a burn ) ", and- tomy ) is a method of transection of superficial skin layers applied in medicine.

It is used primarily for burn victims apply if more than two-thirds of the circumference of a limb are burned. It is used to prevent the compartment syndrome.
