Esplanadi
Esplanadi ( swedish esplanades ) is the common name two parallel streets and an intervening parks in the city center of Helsinki, capital of Finland. In common parlance, the plant, which belongs to the city's sights, " Espa " called.
The north running road is officially called Pohjoisesplanadi ( Swedish: Norra esplanaden ), in the south-facing Eteläesplanadi ( Swedish: Södra esplanaden ). Especially the Pohjoisesplanadi applies together with the one block north lying Aleksanterinkatu as the most popular shopping area of the city. At the western end of the Esplanadi is the Swedish Theater ( Svenska teatern ), at the east end are the statue of Havis Amanda, the marketplace Kauppatori and the South Harbor of Helsinki. In the middle of the park is also a well-known statue of the Finnish national poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg.
Opened in 1812, the park is very busy in the summer, because it is a popular destination for picnics and friends among others. In addition Concerts are regularly held on a specially landscaped outdoor stage.
