History
The name of the S-Bahn stop point goes back to the former municipality Eiberg, whose territory extends today over western parts of Bochum and areas of present-day eastern parts of the city Essen Freisenbruch and Horst.
The end of the 1960s established breakpoint lies today in the southeastern part Freise break on the railway line Witten / Dortmund -Oberhausen / Duisburg that went into this area in 1874 as part of the great East-West axis of the Ruhr area in operation.
Current situation
The breakpoint is in the rail transport now operated exclusively by the S1 S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr ( course book sections 450.1 ).
