Essenbæk Church

The brick building of the new church of Essenbæk located in the municipality Assentoft, immediately east of Randers, in the far west of Djursland, which in turn forms the eastern part of Jutland in Denmark. The church (hence " nye Essenbæk kirke ") was built in the years 1868-69 of red brick. As a base served the granite blocks of the medieval church ( " gamle Essenbæk kirke "), which was north of the present church.

Born in 1914 Artist Henri Mogens Jørgensen, awarded in 1984 with the Eckerberg Medal of the Danish Academy of Fine Arts, has performed in the years 1967-68 the comprehensive beautification of the church. In the ceiling design in the nave of a red hue was working with the variations, which continues in the choir and the apse. The ornate ornaments with lead window have been provided with organic patterns in gray tinted glass. A contrast to this is the window of the apse, which is characterized by its color spectrum and contributes with a metal ornament copper to decorate the altar.
