The Valencia Norte station ( Estación del Norte, Estacio del Nord) is the main station of the Spanish city of Valencia. In him all train lines meet with Iberian gauge, the standard gauge tracks end at Valencia Joaquin Sorolla train station. Unlike the name suggests, the station is located south of downtown.

History

The station was opened in 1917 after eleven years of construction by the railway company Ferrocarrils del Nord as a railhead, having already since 1851 was in the same place a train station. After the nationalization of the railway company of the station came in 1987 in possession of RENFE, and after prescribed by the EU splitting of operation and infrastructure is now the Spanish infrastructure company ADIF responsible for the operation at the station. In 1987, the station building was declared a National Monument and referred to as " building of national importance ".

With the opening of the standard gauge high speed line Madrid -Levante with the new high-speed train station Valencia Joaquin Sorolla, the Estación del Norte suffered long-distance transport a slight loss of importance, but remains the largest railway station of the city.
