The Estadio General Santander is a football stadium in the Colombian city of Cucuta. It can accommodate 42 901 spectators and is the club Cucuta Deportivo as a venue.

History

The Estadio General Santander in Cúcuta, the sixth largest city in Colombia, was built in 1948. The same year also saw the opening of the stadium. They christened the new stadium Estadio General Santander, what a tribute to Francisco de Paula Santander (1792-1840), a general of the New Grenadiner Union, vice president of Greater Colombia and President of the Republic of New Granada figured. Since the completion of the stadium in 1948, the club Cúcuta Deportivo plays its home games from here. Deportivo was until now once Colombian champion (2006). This title was also the so far only major title in the club's history. Currently plays Cúcuta Deportivo in the first Colombian league. In Estadio General Santander found in the seasons 2007 and 2008, Games of the Copa Libertadores, the continental championship in South America, instead, for which Cúcuta Deportivo managed to qualify in the Vorsaisons.
