Estádio Olímpico do Pará

The Estádio Olímpico do Pará is a football stadium in the Brazilian city of Belém. It can accommodate 45,007 spectators and serves the clubs Paysandu SC, Clube do Remo and Sports Club Belém as the venue of many home games.

History

The Estádio Olímpico do Pará was commissioned by the government of the state of Pará in order in 1969. The architect Alcyr Meira should a stadium plan, which seats 120,000 spectators. The record crowd in the stadium was reached when, on July 11, 1999 took place the local derby between the Clube do Remo and Paysandu SC and 65,000 spectators came to the stadium. The attendance record after the conversion is dated 15 May 2003 as Paysandu played against Boca Juniors from Argentina and 57 248 spectators came to the crowded venue. For some time the stadium as the venue for the FIFA World Cup in 2014 was in conversation, the Brazilian Association then decided to but a new building called Arena Amazônia in Manaus.
