Esteban Benzecry

Esteban Benzecry ( born April 13, 1970 in Lisbon ) is an Argentine composer of Portuguese origin.

Benzecry studied until 1992 at the Art Academy Prilidiano Pueyrredon in Buenos Aires. He was then studied composition with Sergio Hualpa and Haydee Gerardi. From 1997 he studied at the Paris Conservatoire composition with Jacques Charpentier. He also took composition lessons with Paul Méfano and studied electroacoustic music with Luis Naón and Laurent Cuniot. The study on Conservatiore he graduated in 1999 with the Premier Prix à l' Unanimite from.

1995 was Benzencry Resident Composer at the Swiss Yehudi Menuhin Academy, from 2002 to 2005 at the Casa de Velazquez in Madrid. In 2008 he received a composition fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation.

His First Symphony and La Lumiere de Pacha Camac in 1994 and 1996 awarded by the Argentinean Critics Association as the best Argentine compositions of the year. The Académie des Beaux -Arts drew Benzencry 1999 the Prix de la Foundation Delmas, 2002 with the Prix Tronchet and 2006 the Prix Georges Wildenstein.
