Estrela is a city on the banks of the Rio Taquari in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul ( Southern Brazil ). In 2006, the city had a population of 29 564 people.

History

When the first colonists came to town, they noticed a bright light in a marsh. In reality, it was the reflection of the full moon, which looked like a meteor to them, which is why the city " Estrela " was called, meaning " star" means.
