Étienne Allegrain
Étienne Allegrain (* 1644, † 1736 in Paris) was a French landscape painter of the Baroque.
Life
His works were inspired by Nicolas Poussin. His son Gabriel Allegrain was also a painter, and his grandson Christophe- Gabriel Allegrain (1710-1795) was a famous sculptor of the Rococo.
Allegrains works are now in the possession of the Palace of Versailles, Fontainebleau Castle, in Dijon, Dole, Chantilly; also in the St. Petersburg Hermitage, the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Albertina.
Up to $ 31,000 was paid for his work in recent years on the art market.
