Étienne Balázs

Étienne Balázs Balázs and Stefan ( born January 24, 1905 in Budapest, † November 29, 1963 in Paris ) was a Hungarian Balazs actually István sinologist.

Life

Balazs spent his childhood and youth in Budapest. By early religious history studies he came on Buddhism for Chinese Studies. In 1923 he continued his studies in Berlin begun in Budapest and received his PhD in 1930 under Otto Franke magna cum laude.

Active active in the resistance, Balazs had to leave Germany in 1935. After Paris was also busy, he retired with his wife in 1940 in the country by Meauzac Tarn -et -Garonne in the back and lived until 1945 by the management of some fields.

A collection of articles Balazs ' has been published in French by Paul Demieville under the title " La Céleste bureaucratie ". In these articles we find to this day unsurpassed representation of Confucian bureaucratic state, including the complex relationship between the emperors and officials, scholars, the latter were the actual bearers of this unique state formation.
