Étienne Lamotte

Étienne Paul Marie Lamotte ( born November 21, 1903 in Dinant; † 5 May 1983; Brussels) was a Belgian Indologist, professor of Greek at the Catholic University of Leuven and priests.

Lamotte first studied with Louis de La Vallée- Poussin and opened later numerous research-relevant texts of Buddhism research, systematisation was driven by him. The latter was due to his knowledge in the major languages ​​of his field - Pali, Sanskrit, Chinese and Tibetan - favored.
