Ettela'at

Ettela'at (Persian: اطلاعات, information) is the oldest still published Iranian newspaper. The same publisher also appear Ettela'at International ( اطلاعات بين المللى ), the only international newspaper published daily in the Persian language and the La Revue de Téhéran, Iran's only published in French monthly magazine. The newspaper was founded in 1927.

On January 6, 1978, in the Ettela'at under the name Ahmad Rashidi Motlagh an article which was entitled Iran and the Black and Red colonialism. The following day there were protests from clerics in Qom. As the protesters prompted the police to break up the demonstration, contributed no follow-up, the police opened fire and killed at least twenty people.

On September 8, 1979 during the Islamic revolution, were the two largest newspapers in the country, Ettela'at and Kayhan, nationalized and the Bonyad -e Mostazafen va Janbazan owner of the newspaper.

In August 1979 Ettela'at appeared with the image Firing Squad in Iran on the front page showing the killing of Kurds during the Islamic Revolution at the airport in Sanandaj. The picture appeared a short time later on the front pages of many newspapers, including The New York Times and The Daily Telegraph. As so far only anonymous work Firing Squad Award Iran in 1980 with the Pulitzer Prize for current photo coverage. Only in 2006, it was announced that Jahangir Razmi was the author of this image.
