Eugene Bookhammer

Eugene Book Hammer ( born June 14, 1918, as Lewes, Delaware, † February 23, 2013 ) was an American politician. Between 1969 and 1977 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Delaware.

Career

Eugene Book Hammer was born the last of ten children of Mr. and Mrs. William and Winifred Book hammer on their farm in Sussex County. In 1936 he graduated from Lewes High School. Then he ran a sawmill. During the Second World War he served in the United States Army. He was used in Europe. For his military services he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. After the war he continued his work in his Sägemühlenbetrieb.

Politically, he joined the Republican Party. He was a delegate or substitute a delegate to three Republican National Conventions. In 1962 he moved into the Senate from Delaware. In 1968, Facebook hammer on the side of Russell W. Peterson was elected Lieutenant Governor of Delaware. This post he held 1969-1977. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Since 1973, he served under the new governor Sherman W. Tribbitt.

Eugene Brook Hammer was a member of numerous organizations and associations. In 2009, he co-wrote with co -author Richard Carter a book entitled genes Book Hammer and His World. Since 1942, he was married to Mary Catherine ( Kitty ) Williams. He died on February 23, 2013 in Lewes aged 94 years.
