Eugène Isabey

Eugène Louis Gabriel Isabey ( born July 22, 1803 in Paris, † April 27, 1886 in Montévrain, Seine- et- Marne) was a French painter and the son of Jean -Baptiste Isabey.

Life and work

Eugène Isabey was like his father Jean -Baptiste Isabey painter and his pupil. He resided in 1830 in a royal marine painter feature the campaign to Africa and introduced in a series of images from that theater of war dar.

In bold treatment he sought especially the brilliant colors and lighting effects, the beads and spray of the waves, the effects of air, light and witty play. This one-sided virtuosity of course was often the indifference to the form and nature of the things themselves, which degenerated into his last paintings, especially in costume pieces to the volatility. But it has exercised its fleet, captivating manner a great influence on French and German artists (Charles Hoguet, Eduard Hildebrandt). Eugène Isabey has also performed numerous watercolors. He died on 27 April 1886.
