Eugene Roshal

Yevgeny Lasarevich Roshal (in Russian Евгений Лазаревич Рошал; born March 10, 1972 in Chelyabinsk) is a Russian programmer.

Roshal received his diploma at the former Technical University of Chelyabinsk (now South Ural State University ), Faculty of equipment construction. He was known especially for the development of data compression format, RAR and the associated compression programs for DOS and Windows. In addition, Roshal developed from 1996 to 2000 the FAR manager whose development will continue as an open source project since 2007.

Since 2004 occurs Roschals brother Alexander as a rights holder for RAR and also developed by him pack WinRAR because Roshal claims to have no time to deal simultaneously with the development and copyright issues. The distribution is done exclusively by the resident in Germany win.rar GmbH.
