Yellow anaconda ( Eunectes notaeus )

The yellow anaconda ( Eunectes notaeus ), and Paraguay anaconda or Southern anaconda, is a species in the family of boas ( Boidae ).

Appearance

The yellow anaconda is a heavily built snake with hardly settled from the neck head. Its basic color is a light yellow-brown with two large, dark, irregular spot rows on the back and two to three smaller lateral spot rows. The belly is yellowish. The body length is usually 250-300 cm, the larger females can reach lengths up to 4 meters. Overall, the yellow anaconda is so much smaller than the Large Anaconda ( Eunectes murinus ).

Supralabialschilde is the number of from 12 to 16 as well as the Infralabialschilde with 15 to 21 lower than that of the large anaconda. The hull has 43 to 52 rows of smooth scales in the middle, 213-237 Ventralschilde, 44-61 Subkaudalschilde and an undivided anal shield.

Dissemination and lifestyle

The distribution area of the yellow anaconda located in South America and extends across Southeast Bolivia, south-west Brazil, Paraguay and northeastern Argentina.

Its habitat includes mainly the vegetation -rich riparian zones of different waters and bright areas in moist forests. She swims and dives excellent and remains mostly on land near the ground. Prey are mammals, birds, fish and reptiles that are packed from the waiting position and then strangled.

Yellow Anacondas are viviparous, after a gestation period 6-8 months come 20 to 30, a maximum of 40 pups. These are great at birth from 50 to 70 cm. The life expectancy is about 20 years.
