The garden spurge (Euphorbia peplus ) (not to be confused with Euphorbia Peplis! ) Is a plant of the genus Euphorbia (Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae ( Euphorbiaceae ).
Description
The garden spurge is an annual plant that reaches a height of from 5 to 20 cm. The leaves are distinctly stalked, roundish shaped to obovate and entire, obtuse at the tip. The Hüllbecher is busy with striking horned glands. The capsule fruits have winged keels. The seeds have more or less rounded pits.
Occurrence
The species is native to Europe and North Africa, but is almost universally present as entrained plant. It grows in gardens, in fields and in waste places. It prefers moist to moderately dry, nutrient-rich loamy soil.
