Eurockéennes

Les Eurockéennes de Belfort is one of the largest rock music festivals in France. It takes place annually in early July for four days on a peninsula at Lac du Malsaucy, a lake on the territory of the municipality Sermamagny north-west of Belfort in eastern France, near the border with Switzerland and Germany, instead.

The festival was founded in 1989 on the initiative of the Conseil Général du Territoire de Belfort. Originally a site on the nearby Ballon d'Alsace was planned ( Ballon d' Alsace), which is why the first event under the name of Le Ballon - Territoire de Musique ran. Since the peninsula turned out on the lake as better suited it was moved in the following year there and renamed.

The site is divided into several sub-zones, so that multiple bands occur on different time- parallel large stages. A few kilometers away there is a campsite with around 15,000 seats, bus shuttles to the festival grounds from which.

Kamen in the first year to around 10,000 visitors, there were already 70,000 in 1993. In the years 2006 and 2008 around 100,000 each participants came in 2013 after the broadcaster 127,000. By comparison, the largest German rock festival Rock am Ring 2013 drew a record number of 87,000 people.
