European Association for the Study of Diabetes

The European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD ) is a professional society of physicians, scientists, laboratory technicians, nurses and students, whose goal is to support research into the disease diabetes mellitus, the rapid dissemination of research results and the promotion of their practical application.

The company, which was founded in 1965 in the Italian town of Montecatini Terme, has more than 7,000 members from over 110 countries. The activities of the EASD include the implementation of annual meetings with 12,000 to 16,000 participants, the presentation of scientific prizes and publication of the journal Diabetologia. The allocation of funds for research projects carried out via the Foundation Founded in 1999, European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes, which has provided since its inception over 70 million euros and one in the field of diabetes research in Europe, the major funding institutions.
