European Astronomical Society

The European Astronomical Society ( EAS ) is an organization for the promotion of astronomy in Europe.

History and activity

The EAS was founded in 1990, is an association, regardless of their field of work, residence or country of origin of professional astronomers. Additionally, associations, publishers and non-profit organizations may be institutional members. The EAS deals with concerns that need to be addressed in the interest of the astronomical community at European level. It works together with national astronomical associations and European research organizations.

The EAS organizes conferences, awards since 2008 Tycho Brahe Prize and promotes communication between the European astronomers newsletters, conference proceedings and a job board.
