European Commercial Internet Exchange
European Commercial Internet Exchange ( ECIX ) is ( according to DE -CIX ) is the second largest Internet exchange in Germany.
Under the name ECIX peering GmbH commercial Internet node operates in the cities of Amsterdam, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Hamburg.
The ECIX has more than 120 members, the / s are connected with a bandwidth of 1 Gbit / s to 100 Gb. At the sites he is represented in multiple data centers with its own switch infrastructure. These are over dark fiber and WDM connections of 1 Gbit / s to 100 Gbit / s interconnected. The data exchange ( " peering " ) between providers via IPv4 and IPv6.
Technology
The distributed switch infrastructure enables Internet service providers charge exchange data. The connection of the client optionally via one or more 1 Gb / s, 10 Gbit / s, 40 Gbit / s or 100 Gb / sGigabit Ethernet ports. The ECIX uses Extreme Networks, Force10, Brocade and Cisco Ethernet switches.
