Conger eel ( Conger conger)

The conger eel ( Conger conger) or eel is a species of the genus Conger conger of the family.

It occurs to the Bay of Biscay and in the Mediterranean Sea in the eastern Atlantic from West Africa. Chance is the kind to be found in the North Sea to the Faroe Islands and Norway.

The conger eel is significantly larger and heavier than the European eel. Females can 2,40 m, rarely up to 3 m long and weighs 100 kg, males reach a maximum of 1.30 m, the average sizes are significantly lower. The body diameter is about 20 cm. Also, head and mouth are much larger. The conger eel feeds on cephalopods and fish such as cod, pollack or coalfish ( " pollock ").

The conger eel is characterized by toxins in the blood than passively poisonous animal.
