European Culture and Economy

European Culture and Economy ( European Culture and Economy ), or short ECUE, is an academic course of study that is interdisciplinary and is often confused with the bachelor's or master 's degree in European Studies, but they differ in many respects. For one, the graduates of the course ECUE can be active in a variety of areas also, but often in occupations that are related to the EU and its institutions.

Formation

ECUE is an international master's degree program, geared to the different disciplines together and the contents of the events set in a European context. So far, the program is only offered at the Ruhr- University Bochum, for the first time in the winter semester 1999/2000. It should be original, supported by DAAD and HRK, mainly acquire economic fundamentals, intercultural competence and the necessary know -how for the job market students from the humanities. 2007 " European Culture and Economy " accredited by ACQUIN. The standard period of study is four semesters.

Program

One focus of the course is the study of the European area under social, cultural and economic perspective. In colloquia and a mandatory excursion the individual topics are linked and training, research and cross-cultural skills of the students. Through the course, students develop by no means experts in the participating departments but rather to specialized generalists.

  • Sociology

The incorporation in many different disciplines and active linking allows the students easily take different points of view and analyze the fast incorporation into new facts and a rational approach to cultural self and other images.

Since the degree program puts great emphasis on internationalism, students learn in the seminars know the perspectives of different nations. These come not only from EU countries but also from Asia, Africa, the USA and European countries. Meanwhile received students from over 30 nations, the financial statements, as at least half of the places will be awarded to foreign students.

Requirements

In order to participate in the program "European culture and economy ", students must have appropriate addition to a good knowledge of German and English to very good bachelor's degree, and master another language. Also required are two letters of recommendation from professors, the bachelor's program.
