European Federalist Movement
The Movimento Federal Ista Europeo (MFE ) is an Italian political association, which promotes the European federalism. It is the Italian section of the Union of European Federalists and thus a sister organization of the European Union, Germany.
Foundation
In Milan Spinelli organized secretly from 27 to 28 August 1943 a group of anti-fascists, including Ernesto Rossi and Eugenio Colorni a meeting, based on the principles of the Manifesto of Ventotene 1941. It is the fourth national association in Europe, the (currently secret ) was established specifically for the " unification of Europe ".
The first national association of for the unification of Europe, was founded in Switzerland on June 24, 1934, the name European Union. In August 1938, the Pax Union, then called Federal Union was founded in London. In December 1941, the French Resistance group Combat which also founded, as these other, creating the " United States of Europe " or "European Union" goal had.
The MFE is the Italian section of the European non - governmental umbrella organization of the " Union of European Federalists " (UEF ), which was established on 17 December 1946 in Paris. The "World Federalist Movement " was created in 1947.
Principles and activities
The principles of " Movimento Federal Ista Europeo " were elaborated by the analysis and proposals by the Spinelli. The policies were intended for a permanent end to the crisis of the nation state and the causes of the world wars, however, could allow only by overcoming the absolute sovereignty of the States with the creation of a European federation, lasting peace in Europe.
This national Federalist Movement in Europe, is an organization that is independent of political parties, and will not participate directly in elections. The MFE is different from the progressive and conservative forces has set itself the goal to build on the basis of a federal constitution according to the meaning of the Swiss in Switzerland, a united Europe. The deliberate federalism should be understood as the organization of society, starting from the "bottom" in order to be closer to the citizen in this level. The people of the districts or the local authorities should, on the European and international level, organization can use its influence to assist in the formation of a European federal state. The MFE is for the promotion and realization of peace, as an essential prerequisite to enable the actions for the common good. The MFE is an independent political initiative, which was only founded in order to accomplish a new European supranational state, which contains a " union in Europe ," a subsidiarity in the European Federation.
