European Film Awards: Best Director ( European Director )

Winners and nominees in the category Best Director ( European Director ) since the first ceremony on 26 November 1988 in the theater of the West in West Berlin, Germany. The most frequently awarded the Best Director Award with three wins so far the Austrian Michael Haneke and Spanish directors. With Wim Wenders in 1988, another German-speaking filmmakers successfully. As the only woman director, Dane Susanne Bier was 2011 ( In a Better World ) excellent.
