European Jews for a Just Peace

European Jews for a Just Peace ( EJJP ) is a federation of Jewish groups in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, which aim to influence the policies of their respective countries and to encourage them to strive for a viable Palestinian state. Among the demands of the organization also includes the immediate withdrawal of Israel from the occupied territories and the dismantling of all Israeli settlements located there.

The organization was founded in Amsterdam in September 2002. Its principles were written down in the " Amsterdam Declaration " in 2002:

  • Any kind of violence against civilians in the conflict, no matter from which side committed to who is condemned.
  • The recognition of Israel in the 1967 borders.
  • The recognition of the right of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, to create their own state in the West Bank and in East Jerusalem.
  • The recognition of the right of both states to have Jerusalem as their capital.
  • The call to Israel to play its part in solving the Palestinian refugee problem and to negotiate its commitment to a just, fair and practical solution.

The organization took, represented by its spokesperson Richard Kuper, the United Nations Forum of Civil Society in Support of Middle East Peace Process in July 2004 in Cape Town and at the UN International Conference of Civil Society in Support of Israeli - Palaestinian Peace in Brussels in August 2007 part.

After Kupers representations EJJP sees its tasks is to encourage the European Union to a body independent of the U.S. position in the Middle East conflict and the ( adopted by the EJJP ) to express historically indignation, justified criticism of Israel to dismantle. As a Jewish group EJJP was likely to refute the accusation of anti-Semitism against other groups who fought in a similar way for Palestinian rights. EJJP distances itself from anti-Semitic attitudes and assaults. The organization called on the UN to clarify in their anti-Semitism definition that criticism of Israel should not be equated with hatred of Jews. At the same time raises the organization Israel "grave breaches" of the Geneva Convention in the occupied territories before and advocating boycotts against Israel.

On 28 September 2010 the German group organized " Jewish Voice for a Just Peace in the Middle East " and the British group " Jews for Justice for Palestinians " ( JFJFP ) the passage of a ship relief supplies to the Gaza Strip. The ship was stopped by the Israeli military in international waters and towed to an Israeli port.

German section

The German section of the European Jews for a Just Peace is called " Jewish Voice for a Just Peace in the Middle East " and was founded in November 2003 by Fanny - Michaela Reisin. On 21 October 2007, the organization was registered as an association. The membership of a natural or legal person in the Jewish Voice presupposes a Jewish origin, of which the Board may grant exceptions.

At a meeting of the organization in Berlin in 2007 was a statement entitled "Before It's Too Late " written. In the same year, the group called for a boycott of products originating from Israeli settlements. An Israeli member of the organization, Iris Hefets, complained in the taz one -sided reporting in the German media about Israel. As an example, they argued that an interview of the organization had never been sent to the RBB. In another interview in the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger they called on Israel to negotiate with Hamas.
