European long-distance paths
The European long-distance hiking trails have been initiated by the European Ramblers Association. One goal in their founding in 1969 was to create a unifying network of wide trails through Europe. Over the years, 11 major long distance trails have been established on this basis.
The total length is approximately 55,000 km. A part of this is not marked or only very inadequately, or to real today not yet exist. In Central Europe the ways and markings are in a generally good to very good condition.
