European river zonation
Fish regions are fishing legally in Germany the ecological zones of rivers ( mountain to the sea mouth, flushed lakes and canals), after Leitfischarten ( characteristic fish species) are classified. Standing water can be divided into different ecological life zones: open water zone ( pelagic zone ) and soil zone ( benthic ).
Trout region
The trout region is usually on the upper reaches of a river. It has a very strong current, thus the water is circulated through gravel and larger stones and enriched with oxygen. The water temperature rarely rises above 10 ° C. The reason consists of rocks, boulders and coarse gravel.
Leitfisch is: brook trout
Associated with: bullhead, minnow and brook lamprey
Limnological classification: Epirhithral (upper trout region ) and Metarhithral (lower trout region )
Grayling region
In the grayling zone still exists a strong flow and high oxygen content, but there are more plants than in the trout region. The water temperature rises here already to 15 ° C, the substrate consists of gravel and coarse to fine-grained gravel.
Leitfisch is: Grayling
Associated with: nose, gudgeon, Schneider, chub, burbot, sea trout, salmon and Danube salmon ( Danube area )
Limnological classification: Hyporhithral
Trout and grayling regions are also referred to collectively as Salmonidenregion ( limnological Rhithral ).
Barbel region
In the bar area, the water temperature is about 15 ° C, the base consists of coarse sand and fine-grained gravel. The river ( mirror widths ) are wider and the flow is only weakly. The oxygen content varies, and is lower than in the mullet region. The riparian zone is rich vegetation ( reed beds ).
Leitfisch is: Barbe
Associated with: Aland, asp, salmon and nerds ( Danube area ), hazel, Pickerel, roach, rudd and bream
Perch, pike, perch and eel are already to be found.
Limnological classification: Epipotamal
Brachsenregion ( Lead Region)
The Brachsenregion is the richest fishing area and is located on the lower reaches of a river. The temperatures in summer to 20 ° C, in winter, the river freezes here often. The vegetation is lush and the subsoil consists of fine sand, partly to sludge deposits from. The oxygen content is very low.
Leitfisch is: bream (also called Lead )
Associated with: bream, pike-perch, perch, rudd, roach, tench, eel and pike
Wild carp, crucian carp, bleak and catfish are found.
Limnological classification: Metapotamal
Bream and barbel region are grouped together and referred to as Cyprinidenregion ( limnological potamal ).
Ruffe flounder region
This region is already one of the brackish water area and is the last fish region. It is located in the delta to the sea in the area of influence of the tides. It is in summer 20 ° C warm and warmer. The substrate consists of fine sand, gravel and mud. The oxygen content varies depending on the tides.
Leitfisch is ruffe
Associated with: flounder, mullet, sturgeon and eel
In addition, the three-spined stickleback and all the fish of the Brachsenregion occur.
Limnological classification: Hypopotamal
