The European route 66 is a European route that runs from west to east. Beginning in Fortezza in Italy, she leads by Austria to the Hungarian border to border in Székesfehérvár in Hungary. It has a length of 651 km.

Route

The E 66 starts in Fortezza in Brixen and leads to the route of the SS 49 road over Pusteria Brunico and Dobbiaco to the Italian- Austrian border.

From the border, the E 66 of the Drau Valley Road B 100 via Sillian, Lienz in East Tyrol and follows on in Carinthia Oberdrauburg over to the Millstaetter lake. From Spittal / Millstattersee the European Route of the Tauern motorway ( A 10) towards the southeast and the Villach follows.

From this node, the road follows the southern motorway (A 2) along the Wörthersee Klagenfurt over towards Styria. About Graz, the European road continues to the exit Ilz Fürstenfeld where it leaves the highway south to the east.

Along the track Straße (B 65), the route leads over Fürstenfeld and Heiligenkreuz to the Austrian- Hungarian border.

From the border, the route along the state road 8 via Körmend and Veszprém to Székesfehérvár. In addition, still performs a motorway through the Pusteria.

2012 Hungary suggested the extension of the E 66 from Székesfehérvár and Kecskemét on Dunaújváros to Szolnok before the European Route 60.
